Additionally, Critical Resistance invites you to join a conversation with scholar activist Beth Richie and local organizers working to disrupt the violence that the prison industrial complex does to our communities. In addition to Beth Richie, the event will feature:
- Marlene Sanchez: Executive Director, Center for Young Women’s Development
- Rachel Herzing: Co-Director, Critical Resistance
- Sagnicthe Salazar: Dean of Restorative Discipline, Castlemont High School & Xicana Moratorium Coalition
- Samantha Rogers: California Coalition for Women Prisoners & Fired Up
Using Richie’s new book, Arrested Justice: Black Women, Violence, and America’s Prison Nation, this discussion will explore the ways that interpersonal and state harm impact women, gender non-conforming, and young people’s lives. We will also hear about actions being taken to respond to harm without relying on policing and imprisonment.
