A call for support from all campus communities,

On February 1st, 2018, a Black staff member, David Cole was assaulted during the AFSCME/UPTE rally by several UCPD officers. An injured David was taken into custody and eventually booked in Berkeley City Jail. He was eventually released but still wrongfully charged with vandalism and obstruction of justice. In a the communication from UCPD and the Vice Chancellor of Administration, David is being characterized as an aggressor. The charges represent historical experiences of how Black people are dealt with in instances of police misconduct. We, the Black Staff & Faculty Organization believe that the charges that are being brought against him are not warranted.  BSFO and our allies will be gathering on Tuesday (2/6/18) at 12:15PM in front of UCPD, on the south side of Sproul Hall in support of David Cole. It is imperative that we garner as much support as possible in order to show UCPD and the campus that we as a community are not going to let this injustice stand. So please join us in solidarity and help us get justice for David by showing up at UCPD on Tuesday (2/6/18) at 12:15PM!

Then join us in demanding that Chancellor Christ have the charges against David Cole dropped on Wednesday, Feb 7, 1pm, California Hall.

In Solidarity,

2017-2018 BSFO Board and Steering Committee
