Ariana Ceja (she/her) joined the Center for Race and Gender in 2019 and was named Associate Director in 2023. A proficient and creative administrator, she is committed to cooperative leadership and is an inventive navigator of bureaucracy. Ceja oversees the center's administration, finance, human resources, communications, and all day-to-day operations, and enables innovative programming and collaborations. Ceja has over 20+ years of higher education administration experience and has been working at academic research centers since 2009. She focuses on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice. She was the Program Manager for the Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice at the UC Berkeley School of Law. Prior to working at UC Berkeley, she served in a joint position as the Administrative Assistant to both the Director of Judicial Affairs and the Vice President of Student Services at California State University, Long Beach. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Humboldt State University, and a M.S. in Criminology from California State University, Long Beach. Ceja received a 2023 Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Award.
